                           Fishing With St. James

This weekend please keep in prayer the 27 youths and 6
adults sponsors from St. James and Prince of Peace parishes,
as they travel with Katie Clark and Fr. Joe to join 500 other
youth and adults at “Going Banana’s for Jesus” in North
Platte. This bi-annual diocesan youth event is a wonderful celebration of faith and a time to gather with Bishop Hanefeldt for Sunday Eucharist.

The Solemnities of St. Joseph (3/19 moved to 3/20) and
the Annunciation (3/25) will be celebrated this week. They are
the only two “Solemnities” celebrated in Lent on the universal
church calendar. You can wish your pastor a happy feast day
anytime during this week!

The second reading for this Sunday and the verse before
the Gospel are worth meditating on during this third week of
Lent. Romans 5:1-2, 5-8 “Brothers and sisters: Since we have
been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our
Lord Jesus Christ, through whom we have gained access by
faith to this grace in which we stand, and we boast in hope of
the glory of God. And hope does not disappoint, because the
love of God has been poured out into our hearts through the
Holy Spirit who has been given to us. For Christ, while we
were still helpless, died at the appointed time for the ungodly.
Indeed, only with difficulty does one die for a just person,
though perhaps for a good person one might even find courage
to die. But God proves this love for us in that while we
were still sinners Christ died for us.”

Verse before the Gospel of Cf. John 4:42, 15 “Lord, you
are truly the Savior of the world; give me living water, that I
may never thirst again.”

I AM Joseph your brother. Fr. Joe Hannappel
