Benefit Spaghetti Dinner for Jason Wasmund

Come to the Benefit Spaghetti Dinner for Jason Wasmund on Thursday, April 11th at St. James Parish Hall. In February Jason fell ill with an infectious disease and had his left leg amputated to save his life. Friends and family are sponsoring this Free Will Donation Meal & Silent Auction, the proceeds will go to the Wasmund family for medical expenses and costs to modify their home. The Wasmund Family (Jason, Cassie, Jaxon and Jaycie) are parishioners at St. James Church.  continue reading

Homebound Ministers

For many years Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion, at St. James Parish, have faithfully brought communion, following the 8:30 Mass, to parishioners who are ill in their homes and nursing homes. Beginning March 31st, we will ritualize this ministry with a blessing and dismissal at the 8:30 a.m. Mass. It is most fitting that these Extraordinary Ministers are sent forth from the Liturgy of the Eucharist. National Farmworker Awareness Week

National Farmworker Awareness Week is March 24-30th. During this week and next week St. James is participating in a drive for long-sleeve shirts for Migrant workers who come to Nebraska each summer. Proteus, a nonprofit organization serving immigrants, minority and low-income populations, has asked our assistance. You may place long sleeve shirts in the box provided in the Gathering Area. Collection For Area Flood Victims

Collection For Area Flood Victims: Next weekend we will take up a second collection for area flood victims. Make your donation to St. James Church and we will see that it goes to area flood victims. This past week, parishioner Karri Damratowski arranged for a semi-trailer in our parking lot to take supplies to the areas around Butte, NE. Bishop Hanefeldt will be at St. James for a Sunday Mass in Spanish on March 31st at 3:00 p.m. to confirm 9 parishioners. The Central Nebraska Respect Life Conference will take place on Saturday, April 6, at the Younes Convention Center in Kearney, NE.  Registration starts at 9:30 am and the conference will end at 2:00 pm. Cost for Adults is $20 and includes lunch; high school and college age students are free. The theme for the conference is “Unlocking the Truth about Contraception and Women’s Health” and is age appropriate for juniors in high school and older. Seating is limited, so early registration is encouraged. Deadline for registration is April 2, 2019.
