Fishing with St. James

Sunday, December 18, 2016

On behalf of the parish, I want to thank Jeanne Ackerman for the 78 years she has participated in the music ministry at St. James. She is a model of a faithful disciple and generous steward of her gifts given in the service of others. Jeanne is an inspiration to me through her dedication and commitment. The number of Masses, weddings, funerals, and other celebrations she has played for would be impossible to count. Please join us in honoring her after both Sunday Masses.

I want to thank the Hispanic Leadership Group and everyone involved in the Our Lady of Guadalupe preparations, celebration of Eucharist, music, traditional dancing by parishioners and the feast of food. The day was a great witness to our community spirit and to “Our Lady, the patroness of the Americas” who appeared in Mexico in 1531.

The “Christmas Wish List” and “End of Year Giving” insert in today’s bulletin provides opportunities to participate in the practical needs of our parish. Since Christmas falls on a weekend we hope you will continue to commit to your regular weekly or monthly gift and a special Christmas donation/gift to our parish. As stewards of the gifts God has entrusted to you please consider making an extra effort to support our parish.

December 17th begins the daily praying of the O Antiphons. They are included in the insert and will give you the opportunity of praying an antiphon a day until we meet again for the Feast of the Incarnation.

“Maranatha -Come Lord Jesus!” Fr. Joe Hannappel
