Catholic Social Teaching

Catholic Social Teaching There will be eight sessions on the seven principles of Catholic Social Teaching to be held once a month beginning in September (except December) until May 2018. Catholic Social Teaching is what the Catholic Church teaches us about our responsibility to make the world a better place. Donuts & Dough

Donuts & Dough Returns! On Sunday, September 17th , there will be Coffee & Donuts following the 8:30 a.m. Mass in the Parish Hall. Pizza will be served following the 10:30 a.m. Mass in the Parish Hall. Join the St. James community in fun and fellowship while you enjoy donuts and/or lunch. Sponsored by the Social Committee.

Hurricane Harvey Relief

A second collection will be taken up this weekend for Hurricane Harvey Relief. The donations will be used to support the efforts of Catholic Charities USA, the official domestic relief agency of the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops for pastoral and reconstruction aid to the Church. The Diocese Facebook page, “Catholic Diocese of Grand Island,” has been updated with a link for Hurricane Harvey Relief Efforts, Our Diocese website has also been updated with these links....  continue reading

Prince of Peace Envelopes

The Blue Envelopes from Prince of Peace Church in our pews. This fall, from August 21st to December 31, 2017, 56th Street will be closed from West of 2nd Avenue and past 17th Avenue. Because of this, it is possible that Prince of Peace parishioners will attend Mass at St. James and can use these envelopes for the plate collection. During the time of our renovation Prince of Peace placed St. James envelopes in their pews so we are happy to return the favor.

New Lay Ecclesial Minister

We congratulate Stephen Friesell from Prince of Peace Parish. He is one of the seven men and women that have completed the 3 year University of Loyola Collegial Study Program. They will be commissioned as Lay Ecclesial Ministers by Bishop Joseph G.Hanefeldt at a special Mass at Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church in St. Paul on Saturday, September 16th at 5:00 p.m.

Beloved

Beloved We are beginning our new Marriage Enrichment Program at St. James.  The group is now called Couples in Christ.  The program is "Beloved" - a marriage enrichment program from formed.org.  Beginning September 25th, we will gather for six Monday evenings through October 30th.  Child Care and supper are provided.  Registration will be in the Gathering Space all Masses or print the registration form and bring the completed form to the Parish Office....  continue reading
